Glenolden Fire Company to host Fire Prevention Events

Glenolden Fire Company will host 2 large events in the near future.  On October 4, we will be hosting our second annual Fire Saftety Day at Robin Ford from 10 AM to 2 PM.  On Tuesday, October 7th, we will be hosting our annual Open House from 7PM to 9PM.  The will be numerous events planned for both day, and in addition, fire apparatus from surrounding communitites.  Please come out and join us for these events.

This coming Sunday, October 5th, members will be heading to Emmitsburg, Maryland to attend the National Fallen Firefighters ceremony to honor Michael Reagan Jr. from Sharon Hill Fire Company.  Michael tragically lost his life on September 29, 2007  from injuries he received at a garage fire.  Michael is truely missed and we are traveling to Emmitsburg to honor his memory.  Please keep the members of Sharon Hill Fire Company and Michael's family in your thoughts and prayers.

Fire prevention week is fast approaching.  Robert E. Murray and the fire prevention team has put together the schedule for fire prevention week, which is the week of October 5th through October 12th.  Please click the document link to see all the events scheduled for this year.  The events scheduled extend before, during and beyond this week.  All help is appreciated for these events.  Thanks.

Glenolden Fire Company was informed by the Pennsylvania State Fireman's Fire Prevention awards committee that we have been awarded 1st place in the state of Pennsylvania for our efforts and presentations throughout the year in fire prevention.  This is truely a high honor and we are proud to receive this award.  A huge 'Thank you' goes out to Fire Prevention Chairman Robert E. Murray and the personnel that assisted him throughout the year.  Without the hard work of everyone involved, we would not have been able to earn this award.

Glenolden Fire Company regrets to announce the death of Joe Deeney. Joe held numerous office in the fire company including Chief and President. He currently held the position of Secretary. Joe also held offices with the Delaware County Fireman's Association, PA Fire and Emergency Services Institute, Firemen’s Legislative Federation of Pennsylvania, Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association, Firemen’s Association State of Pennsylvania and was a member of the Delaware Valley Fire Chief's Association. Arrangements are as follows: Viewing: Friday, June 27th from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M Saturday, June28th from 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. Cavanaugh's Funeral Home Chester Pike, Norwood. Meet at the firehouse by 5:30 P.M on Friday Meet at the firehouse by 8:00 A.M. on Saturday Funeral: Saturday, June 28th 10:00 P.M St. Gabriel's church Norwood. ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT

Glenolden, Holmes and Folcroft Fire Companies, along with Norwood ambulance responded to 105 S. MacDade Blvd. for the accident with entrapment. Norwood ambulance arrived and began triage. Engine 5 arrived to stabilize the vehicle until Rescue 43 and Rescue 01 arrived. Engine 5's crew assisted Rescue 43 and Rescue 01 in the extrication.

Members from Glenolden, Sharon Hill, Folcroft and Holmes Fire Companies participated in a Vehicle Rescue Technician Class. The class was very informative and will enable us to assist our rescue companies on MVA's.

GLENOLDEN FIRE COMPANY SUPPORTS GLENOLDEN SCHOOL 8TH GRADE CAR WASH

Glenolden Fire Company took Engine 5 over to Glenolden School to support the 8th grade car wash. The fundraiser helped support the 8th grade dance which will be held on June 7th. Congratulations to all the 8th grade students and good luck in high school. We are glad we could help out.

VEHICLE FIRE WELL OFF

Glenolden Fire Company was dispatched to the Glenolden train station for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, we had a vehicle fire well off and the crew from Engine 5 pulled an 1 3/4" line. The crew extinguished the fire within minutes. Crew remained on location until the wrecker arrived.
