Physicals beginning in 2009

pGlenolden Fire Company will benbspinstituting physicals in 2009.ppBeginning February 1 2009 all members that will be responding to alarms will be required to take a physical.nbsp These physicals will be given at Springfield hosital.nbsp Members have until April 30 2009 to schedule your physical.nbsp The physical will take approx. 2-3 hours.nbsp Members who do not take the physical will not be permitted to respond to alarms.nbsp Forms detailing what is requried and phone numbers of who to call to set up your physical is available.nbspPlease see a line officer for this.nbsp Thanks for your cooperation.nbspnbspnbspp

Garage fire on Llanwellyn Ave.

pOn January 1 2009 Glenolden Fire Company started off the year with a garage fire at 24 S. Llanwellyn Ave.nbsp At approx. 1700 hrs. Glenolden Sharon Hill and Folcroft Fire companies along with RIT 03 were dispatched for a reported garage fire.nbsp Engine 5 arrived on location with a working garage fire.nbsp Engine 09-2 dropped a supply line to Engine 5 with Engine 5snbsp crew pulling an 1 34quot.nbsp Fire was extinguished quickly and crews remained on location for about an hour doing overhaul.nbsp Special thanks to Brian Feeney for the pics during the investigation.nbspp

Glenolden Fire Company Station 5 is at Boeing Fire Dept Sta 79.

Glenolden Fire Company Station 5

Tower 5 joined up with Boeing Fire Department B Platoon on Sunday morning for a joint drill.

B Platoon prepared and cooked a delicious breakfast for the crews before heading out to drill on hydrant and master stream evolutions. Company 5 and BFD drilled for 4 hours before returning back to Glenolden.

Flash flooding from excessive rainfall is forecast today in the Mid Atlantic. Storms will have very heavy rain rates and are expected to move slowly — nearly stationary at times.

There are approximately 18 million people in the Moderate Risk (risk level 3 of 4) area today.
